This course examines leadership theories and models to prepare students with the tools to analyze leadership effectiveness in real-world environments. Students will explore how cultural rules of engagement shape communication strategies and influence leadership impact across diverse professional and community settings.

A central focus of the travel component of the course is leadership’s connection to cultural identity, historical legacies, and socio-political realities. Through experiential learning, students will assess how Puerto Rican leaders emerge and adapt, leveraging resilience, community organization, and advocacy to drive change.

The course also integrates a leadership-identity communication component, exploring how leaders in Puerto Rico apply influence and decision-making strategies across public, corporate, and grassroots sectors.
